I'm going to assume a lot, if not most or all, of you have seen this already. But, for anybody that hasn't, this is Peanuts as if it had been written by Bukowski. http://progressiveboink.com/archive/peanuts-by-charles-bukowski/ It still cracks me up every time.

Obviously everyone here is a huge fan of Buk's, but do you consider him your favorite writer? How about just poet? Short story writer? Novelist? If not, who are your favorites? I definitely consider him to be my favorite poet. For short stories my holy trinity, so to speak, would...

My family exchanged gifts tonight. I did, in fact, get a typewriter. Very excited. Now all I need to do is move out and develop a drinking habit...though, I don't drink at all(and can't because of a stomach surgery I had), so that might prevent from becoming a great writer ;).

It's almost universally accepted that the posthumous poetry collections are weaker. Some of my favorite of Buk's poems come from posthumous collections(So You Want To Be A Writer, Roll The Dice, a bunch of others...), but as collections I'll agree that the ones that came out while he was alive...

My question to the board is about copyright laws and such. I'm working on a non-fiction short story and I wanted to quote Bukowski from the poem "Some People" when he says "some people never go crazy. what truly horrible lives they must lead." Does anyone know if I'm allowed to do this...
