Didn't find out about him and started to read his stuff until I was my late 40's. Got introduced to him through Youtube when trolling for HS Thompson videos. A recovering alcoholic of 20+ years that is both amused and fascinated by his short stories and novels.
Can anybody share their thoughts on what to expect from the upcoming book On Writing?
Just wondering if I should sink the money into purchasing this book.
Thanks
I'm finding a lot of the material in Bukowski's "Portions from a wine-stained notebook" is quite the departure from most of the other works I have read of his. The references and allusions he makes in some of the essays in the book are way over my head and unlike the seemingly simple and crude...
I'm am really getting into Mr. Bukowski's works but I know of nobody to actually talk to about him.

This list of names of articles from the Notes of a Dirty Old Man book was just what I was looking for!!
Thanks very much for your efforts in getting this together!

I was looking online for an explanation of some of CB's articles in his Notes of a Dirty Old Man book and came
upon this site. So far, I've only read Post Office and Factotum. I'm finding to really enjoy his style of writing.
I am a bit confused to some of the references(people and events) he...
