That is an astute observation. I recently read a couple of poems where Bukowski mocked AA and alcoholics saying what they consider excess was what he considered "tapering off". Anyhow, was he an alcoholic. Fuck yes!

Hmm, Don't agree with the first part but agree Giamatti is a star. Give that man something to work with! He could do Buk in a movie no problem. He'd make a good choice for an adaptation of post office (if Jack wasn't available...). Maybe the best person to play hank would be Nick Nolte.....:-)

Yup, great movie. The coen brothers have made some other classics : Barton Fink, Millers crossing and Fargo (my favourite)

I don't think so. There is still a lot of humor in his work. Last night of the earth poems still made me laugh in places.

A really GREAT one. The Last Detail, Jack Nicholson. He plays a boozy character called "bad ass budusky" :)
