Barfly by a country mile for me. Bukowski was raw, gritty, a man of the streets. Dillon gave this sanitized version who you just couldn't really see as a drunk brawling street type. I recall seeing him wearing a yellow patterned shirt at one stage, just didn't feel or look like Bukowski to me.

Read Post Office about 20 years ago, just read it again and found it more revealing as I now know a little more about Bukowski. Looking forward to devouring the rest of his novels and some poetry too. I am a mid 40s male from Manchester UK and came across this forum when looking for authors...
