Books I never want to read...

I have no desire whatsoever to ever read this book. Indeed you can judge a book by its cover. Fuck this book.

    Game of Thrones

Dobie Gillis and The Honeymooners can kiss my ass, the Golden Age of TV has unfolded in the last 5 to 10 years - Breaking Bad, Spartacus, Rome, Mad Men, Dexter, The Wire, Deadwood, The Shield, Boardwalk Empire and this show are the best TV has ever had to offer. A fan of the Martin books and the...

    Anime

I fit in to the average age demographic around here but methinks I'm perhaps a bit eccentric with my taste in entertainment when it comes to the following: I believe you'd be pleasantly surprised with this series: [This video is unavailable.] And this one, also:

    Naughty Romans

Romans on film are hearty good decadent fun. Enjoying these two seedy series: RIP Andy Whitfield.

Stavrogin misses Ambreen. Someone alert match.com.

I miss Ambreen. She took a lot of shit here. Much of it from men twice/thrice her age. You should be proud.

    Favorite things of 2010

My 1st full year on this site and would like to list a few of my favorite things ( apologies to Rodgers and Hammerstein). 1. One Match Left by David Barker published by Purple Glow Press. Everything perfect with this one. 2. 'Tirez a la ligne, Celine' from Chance Press. This J&J duo know how to...

    Shits and Giggles

I blame chronic for this but his cyst vid had me thinking we need a thread devoted to random wackiness and weirdness. Advance apologies to the ladies: [This video is unavailable.]

    True Grit (2010)

Really looking forward to this upcoming film from the Coen Bros. Great cast (good to see Bridges in another western) and, well, it's a Coen film and that's good enough for me to rouse interest. Love the original (one of the few Wayne films I really like - the other being The Searchers) and do...

    Happy Birthday to this site!

Happy 4th. Best time as any to thank the Mods here for doing all the quiet, behind the scene things they do to keep this site running. They've cleaned up enough of my debris to know they are watchful. And I've never received a PM telling me to stop leaving messes. Obviously thanks, too, to mjp...

    Sin Nombre

Good flick. Watch it when you've time. Worked for a time with a Gang Task Force in the Youth Division of the Indiana Department of Corrections and this type of film hits home. My lily-white suburban ass had an eye-opening in working with youth in the grip of gang activity.

    Factotum

I've finally read all of Bukowski's novels and have spent time reflecting on which one I've enjoyed the most. "Ham on Rye," was it and then "Hollywood" seemed so close, but I keep thinking about "Factotum." It lacks the kinetic juice of some of his other novels, but I'm thinking "Factotum" is...

    Damn you, Bukowski!!

Now I've a new obsession. New to Bukowski but know I'm going to be hooked. Reading through his novels 1st, then will go the short story route with his poems soon to follow. Been there before with Dostoevsky and Gogol, no half-assed effort, will have to read EVERYTHING! Bukowski is the most...
