    The timeline

An unusual development - a new address. This one for Bukowski and Barbara Fry(e), their first address together in Los Angeles. It's a parking lot now, but there's still an old court apartment on the lot next door, so it was likely an apartment. Which Barabara must not have liked, since it...

    THIS IS NOT A TEST

Rural Juror https://thisisnotatest.com/rural-juror/?utm_source=bukowski-forum&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=tinat-rural-juror Let's bid adieu to 2020 with a heartwarming tale of sitting on a small-town jury. Did you know adieu means "to God"? So when we bid adieu to 2020, we're really saying...

Bukowsky Written Up As A Woman

Those are the two signs of a great writer: 1) named after a shoe, and 2) can't be bothered with trivialities like spelling, grammar, or making sense.

    Quote by Bukowski?

    Seems a lot suspicious.

    Shits and Giggles

That's a common scam whenever a new iPhone or iDingaling or whatever comes out. But usually, it's a genuine shrinkwrapped iDingaling box with something heavy in it, and the sucker victim buys it out of a car trunk in a parking lot somewhere...

    The First Interview

You know what's great though? These things. You might not think so at first glance. I mean, if the steak was any good, you wouldn't have to "chicken fry" it, right? Well, they're really good, so I'd say since you're locked in the house anyway, get some and give them a try. While you're there...

    Timeline contributions

The timeline has been continuously updated since it started (whenever that was) and that isn't changing any time soon. It's typically updated many times a year. The same with the database and manuscripts. It's not always obvious, but that site has been growing and evolving since it was created...

    Guitars, basses and other noisemakers

I would think a week of dates on any Stones tour would equal one Woodstock as far as audiences are concerned. So I'm not sure playing a small number of mega-shows gives anyone an advantage over 50 years of playing stadiums (even though, yes, the great oracle of Wikipedia says there have been...

    Timeline contributions

Not really. I know there may be one or two "if this is true, this would be the first [whatever]" kind of things in the timeline, but I'd like to avoid too much of that kind of speculation whenever possible. Not saying your sources are speculating, but without a date or advertisement or notice...

    Guitars, basses and other noisemakers

I think there are a lot of arena bands from the same era that drew (or still draw) similar-sized audiences and played way more shows than the Grateful Dead. The answer to the question is unknowable, of course, but if there was a list, I'd be surprised if any member of the Dead showed up near the...

    Vibrating snake oil

I hear what you're saying (get it? ?), but in practice, a subwoofer (or any well-made woofer or tweeter) does not artificially boost frequencies that aren't there. It can't (because they aren't there). It kind of works the other way around: most speakers rob you of certain frequencies or sounds...

The senseless, tragic rape of Charles Bukowski’s ghost by John Martin’s Black Sparrow Press

Yes, it has, and no she isn't. She's limited in what she can do about it though. Only the publisher can "fix" the problem, and there is little no financial motivation for them to do that. If someone can figure out how to make money doing it, it will be done. Otherwise, it's an uphill battle.

I didn't even try Polk for a fix, I just went with an ELAC. It arrived yesterday and I set it up today. All is well now. I thought you'd want to know.

Ethereum, Bitcoin and Quatloos (or: How will Ethereum revolutionize the music industry?)

Just an update on my crypto-fortune (or more accurately, Carol's fortune, since it was her stuff we initially traded for $149 worth of bitcoin), it's up to $462.92 at the moment. So it's gone from doubling on August 20th to more than tripling today, a little more than three months later. Is...

    art & artists

I didn't think so. ;) I shouldn't comment anyway, I'm too cynical about the contemporary art world. But it really hasn't changed since, oh, I don't know, the Italian Renaissance? Isn't that when art started to be sold commercially (so to speak)? So what's that, 600 or 700 years? The quality...

if by "being about the work" you mean being about what will make the gallerist or advisor or whoever the most money, then yes, it always starts off being about the work. But the reality is it's always about the money and never about the work where contemporary art is concerned. Maybe in...
