Just some of the imagery, really. I'm really no expert on poetry, and I don't read a great deal of it, so I'm not in any position to compare in any great depth, but...ahh... I guess just because I love Bukowski's poetry, and I love Celan's. Just wondered if anyone else on here did :)

Nah, man. I've always found his stuff really uplifting. You should show these nay-sayers something like Houellebecq if they wanna see negative.

I think 'Journey To The End Of The Night' was awsome. And I totally saw where Buk got some of his style in it. In a good way, of course.

Ahh, it's definately not Bukovski. I'm living in Russia at the moment and everybody here calls him Bukovski, so I would have definately remembered it from that. I think I read about it in that Howard Sounes biography of him. Unfortunately that's thousands of miles away now!

I remember reading somewhere, some time ago, that Bukowski's real surname wasn't infact Bukowski, but something quite similar. I think it was just a different suffix, but I really can't remember what. Anyone know what it was?

I can't believe no-one's mentioned Henry Miller yet! I'd say anyone wanting something funny, Bukowski-esque and generally a good read, go for Sexus by Miller.
