What are you listening to? The world really needs to know. #5

[This video is unavailable.] Really enjoy Fireball. My old 'head' uncle used to play this incessantly while driving with a can of beer parked between his legs as he ferried a bunch of 8 year olds to the local arcades and lakes. Reminded me of this song, which was playing when I lost my...

Underrated band for sure. A bit schmaltzy, but a pretty decent song.

Title is referencing a Mexican fighter from the 80's. He goes on to sing about many other prizefighters. I posted the electric version. The acoustic version is pretty great as well if anyone was interested in looking for it.

My early thirty Pennsylvanian ass can really relate to this early 70's Soul singer singing about the flood of cheap, available Heroin that flooded major cities in the late 60's. ;)

I'm amazed you can find anything around here

I hope I didn't step into anything. I know this is a tight knit group. I was just asking.

what? you're kidding, right? no? jesus.

Dang! I just posted a video by The National in the "What are you listening to" thread. Didn't realize they covered Clampdown. Just checked it out. It's not very good. But they do a pretty good cover of Springsteen's My Father's House and Velvet Underground's What goes on.

Saw these guys last night at the Barclay center in Brooklyn. Full house. Very good band. Really worked it for a solid decade before getting this great opportunity to play some big venues.

I'm amazed you can find anything around here

Hi everyone, I've been utilizing the search function ( not very well ) looking for information about Father Luke. He and I exchanged a brief PM here and there when I first joined the site. Would like to know how the man is doing? I see he hasn't made an appearance under that handle...

How Linda saved our friend Charles...

Thank you for responding, MJP. Pretty interesting stuff. I'm going to read it a few more times. Get a better sense of the players involved. Thanks again.

How Linda saved our friend Charles...

I know how much the board respects Linda's privacy and I normally wouldn't ask this question, and if I'm out of line, please don't hesitate to delete this question. I mostly just lurk here and as much as I try, I do miss a lot of good threads. I recall MJP saying something about...

    Marina pic

Yeah, great pic. She looks so happy. I just looked for one I had saved where Marina and her dad were sitting on a curb and she had a huge smile! Can't seem to find it atm.

    Bukowski tattoos

God, I wish I could say things like this. This thread fucking sucks. And I know it's cliche, but I really hate hipsters. Sorry dudes.

It looks like "Mack Austin" is on his deathbed...

Reading about Buk's opinion of him in Hollywood soured me on him for a bit. ( Easily influenced.) But looking back, he was a pretty talented guy.

    Mafia

That Gravano movie was a piece of shit, frankly. Very self serving as Bukfan mentioned. I did enjoy the lead character's performance. Nicholas Turturro. Here's a link to a Gotti bio-pic starring Armand Assante which isn't completely awful. Assante played a good role. Again, a...
