    Any poets like Bukowski...?

Every poet says the same thing. Bukowski simply re-wrote DH Lawrence’s insights (he nearly admits this) but in the language of *now*. So until there’s reason to update language and how we talk to one another, there’ll be no new Bukowski. The old insights are the same as forever. Every poet...

    Outgrowing Bukowski

interesting responses. appreciate it. my narrative isn't preaching to the converted here - i was reluctant to post this initially. but think it's always good to challenge dominant views in any forum (respectfully, of course). the term 'outgrowing' implies some sort of superiority which i don't...

    Outgrowing Bukowski

I read him and re-read him all through my late 20s and 30s. 15 years in total. Getting wasted in the bushes with a couple of his books fueled him to life, appearing on an open book of his like a starwars hologram, talking right to me. But after a while, he faded. He dried up. Re-reading his...

    What did Bukowski drink?

'bursting out of your bellybutton' is very cool. almost a birth/umbilical cord to creativity. so yes. it misses this. thanks for sharing so why does john martin change such vital stuff? ego? AND who takes over the bukowski stuff when martin dies? will this person just leave his stuff be? hey...

Bukowski saying it better than his influences

apologies all. i never wanted to get 'lost in the detail' i just wanted to say that both wonderful artists had similar ideas. that can't be denied. i think. bring on DH Lawrence! thanks. read. appreciated. i still think bukowski was riffing on dh lawrence (despite martins reworking).

so now you're saying he didn't write bukowski's books with that link, zobraks? you're an ok-ish troll. but you don't have to slavishly emulate bukowski's cuntish dislike of people also, zobraks. find your own identity thanks johannes, thats super helpful.

Bukowski saying it better than his influences

So John Martin wrote his most popularly spread internet quotes? John Martin is a genius. Where can I buy his books? My feeling is that people have such intimacy with bukowski they feel like hes their 'girlfriend'. So we all get comments of the 'you dont know him at all' variety'. Hes everyones...

ah ok. so many quotes on the internet attributing this to him. https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/677545-my-dear-find-what-you-love-and-let-it-kill what i've noticed is that all the greats, and all the great artists all have the same message to deliver. but what separates them is their 'voice'...

All good! I'll find moments where he does this - bag out on his own poem for not being swift enough - when I re-read over the next year or two and post here. Much love skiroomalum!

    WAFFLE

@skiroomalum, there's a fair few goes in his poems where he talks about going on to long. I've read all his poems. But he sounds like he's enjoying it. Not bagging him. Adds to his 'majesty'. Actually, I haven't read bestial wail.... It's not he's said it once. He makes this point (beating on...

    WAFFLE

Buk seems to get self conscious about finishing his poems. I wish I had saved more as examples, but this is just one of many of Buks poems where he finishes his poem selfconsciously, thinking he's waffling.... There's a fair few of his poems where he's very self conscious about poeming on too...

    Better than Buk

Raymond Chandler also wrote about a grimy, dirty L.A. through misathropic boozy eyes. His detective Phillip Marlowe just as cynical. Chandler was also a famous pass out drunk who wrote most of his stuff without even remembering.
