Buk's writing process

Just curious as to how Bukowski drafted his poetry, a lot of his poetry seems 'straight to the page'.

Were there any pieces he worked on over a certain period of time or are his poems mostly stream of conscious?

He edited and he recycled.

Some were straight to the page (and it shows), but I would wager that none of the great (and most of the good) poems went unedited.

I have a manuscript that shows very heavy corrections/revisions in Buks hand. A 3 page poem with (maybe) 50 corrections!
He clearly thought about improving the poems after first committing them to paper.
How many escaped this process, I don't know.
