I bought a copy of STORY from 1936 for a Graham Green short story and stumbled across this interesting mention on the last page ad. It sounds like the author had a terrifying experience!
I had that issue of Story with the Jon Edgar Webb prison story, but fool that I am, sold it cheap. It had a cool photo of Webb, behind bars if I remember correctly. I don't recall the story at all, just the photo. Thanks for posting that ad.
