Come On In! - pg. 144 - 2006

weep

weep for the indifference of flying fish

weep for the absence of long-haired blondes

weep for the sadness of yourself

weep for Bach

weep for the extinct animals

weep for grandfather's clock

weep for weeping
because no one cares

the doors open in and out
the lights go on and off
teeth are pulled

I forgive the indifference of flying fish

I forgive the butterfly and the moth

I forgive the first woman who held my psyche
in her fingertips when

I was sold into captivity
long ago.

Uh, wow.

It seems the longer he was dead, the more wide-ranging these changes became.

"weep for grandfather's clock"? Seriously? Was this edited by a native English speaker or were they outsourcing editing to India by this time?

Another one gutted of all feeling and turned into a laundry list.

Yeah, that's terrible. (By the way, on the comparison page, it has "weep for grandfather clock" under the manuscript section, but it should say "the" grandfather clock per the manuscript.)

Anyway, I nominate "weep for the extinct animals" as the most ludicrous change I've seen so far.

Oops. Fixed.

Suckerfish, extinct animals - same diff. Whatever. Who cares, right?

It is what it is
These comparisons are really pissing me off.

Someone ought to get publicly humiliated for all these bullshit changes.

Fuck!
