what is this from?

i've now read more than a few collections of Buk's poetry, but i cannot remember ever reading this quote in one of his collections (my poor memory may be to blame). it's the Buk quote that seems to appear everywhere, i just don't know what it's from. i hope this doesn't make me look like too much of a buk neophyte. any help?

"For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can't readily accept the God formula, the big answers don't remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command or faith a dictum. I am my own God. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us."

I'm sure that is from a letter that was collected in one of the volumes BSP published. Can't say which volume though. Its widely quoted online and bits of it end up all over the place, often in signatures on forums.

This doesn't really pass the sniff test to me, Life Magazine or not. Then again, he was awfully sick during that period.
