A few nice tidbits in there. I doubt those letters and postcard will meet your estimates, but who knows.

Thanks mjp. Opening bids on the letters and postcard are one-half of the low estimates, there are no further reserves on any of these items so we're hopeful that they will find their way into a new collection.

I'm sure they will. I suppose it all depends on who shows up.

It's a good little selection of things other than the typical books, which is nice.

I am pleased to announce that on July 14, 2016 PBA Galleries will offer the Allen "Al" Berlinski collection of Charles Bukowski. A remarkable collection containing many early works, manuscript poems, correspondence, periodical appearances, broadsides, Black Sparrow Press editions (including many with original art work by Bukowski), works with contributions by Bukowski and more. The catalog will be available mid-June.

Officials say drugs may have played a part
Greg,
You need to get those young kids from Silicon Valley to show up with the deep pockets. Get a few articles out there in the weeklies so they know about Mr. Bukowski.

A new generation of Bukowski collectors is needed to buy something other than letters.

The books on the last auction went below what they should have.

My apologies for my previous post.

One longtime "collector" and Bukowski "enthusiast" already shared his disappointment, contacting me directly via Western Union.

Subject: You fool!

Getting Silicon Valley Douchebags interested in Bukowski will only increase the prices. That's not good for those of us who are still collecting. Your wanting to score on your own tiny and piddling assortment of Buk stuff does not help matters. Illusory and immediate gains as opposed to greater future riches. That's your angle. Sod!

I have spoken.

Again, my sincerest apologies

Greg, please inform the agency we will no longer be requiring their services. Please destroy all collateral rather than selling it on Ebay.

Mike

We are hard at work cataloging Al Berlinski's superb Bukowski collection. The catalog will be ready early next week. Books, broadsides, letters, original poems and short writings, it's all here. Auction July 14th.

Thanks for adding the link! Believe it or not I wasn't aware that you could find the upcoming lots before the catalog is complete. I spend my time on the back end of the website and rarely peruse from the user side. A caveat about this though, lot numbers will almost certainly change as we've not done the sort for the finished catalog yet and it is also possible that estimates and reserves may change as well. I'll be sure to post when it's all locked in place. Enjoy!

Sorry, we're all vegetarian pedestrians here. All the coffee you can drink though.

Kidding aside, we'd be delighted to have you attend, in person or online.

Greg

Kidding aside, how about a break on the vig for us, just a point or three would help? Also, how about shit-canning that "handling fee?" You know, while we're on such friendly terms now.

Actually our buyer's premium is competitive with or lower than most other specialty auction houses and you'll have to trust me that shipping is not a profit center for us. We bill at our cost plus a small handling fee for your total purchase (not per lot), really quite reasonable considering, in my opinion. If you need to know what shipping will cost prior to placing your bid, our shipping department is happy to help.

Probably best if you don't try to defend that.

I get it, you work for them. But there's no justification for, or logical defense of, the "buyer's premium" (20% at PBA) that any auction house charges when they're already taking a cut from the seller (15% at PBA).

So let's stay friends and not talk about money.

I merged this into the existing thread. We don't need multiple threads about the auction.
