    The Bukowski forum is closing

And thanks from me as well. It's been a very unique experience.

    Guitars, basses and other noisemakers

It's hard to argue with an opinion. And I don't necessarily disagree, but in terms of concise output, the Beatles destroyed the Stones. On the other hand, the Stones were certainly more prolific over a long period of time. And at times, I'd rather hear Let it Bleed than Let it Be (actually...

Yes, Grateful Dead actually didn't play Altamont, despite being part of the organizing body. They were on the bill, but after hearing/seeing what had happened to members of their crew and to Marty Balin, they opted out.

    Guitars, basses and other noisemakers

I just spent the better part of an hour scrolling through this thread. Good stuff. I may have posted the following elsewhere on this site at some point, but not in this thread and while it's not about noisemakers per se, it's about synched-up noise transmission at large concert events. While...

    Vibrating snake oil

I do want to know, but I wonder whether a sub-woofer is helping to replicate the sound of the recording or overly-enhancing it. Having recorded in a few studios, I've found that the bass can be manipulated to varying degrees. What I can't figure out is what is the most accurate/faithful sound...

    Factotum - broken clock scene

"...the new theory (Formula K) enacts itself: M plus S plus C plus O (brought down to the relative power of 1/4 each): and the horse with the lowest total is the winner." Simple really.

    Factotum - broken clock scene

In fairness, I get paid to solve word problems like this. Er, I used to get paid more, but I still make enough to keep my head barely above water. But analyzing Buk at this level is really silly. Then again, I felt compelled to do it.

    Factotum - broken clock scene

Agreed on the 19.5 hours as a starting point, but since the clock moves 95 minutes every 60 minutes, the actual time passed since it was set properly is (19.5 hr) * (60/95) = 12.32 hr, so it's 12:19 PM.

    Unknown Bukowski pictures?

Damn, that's a reviewer who actually gets it. ?

    Did Bukowski buy books

Top left corner here: Buk Photos. He wrote of having his own books, but this would seem to show some that aren't likely his. Also some papers, notebooks, etc. So, he likely bought some at the very least.

    they, all of them, know

? That's where I derived my response along with looking at the four book entries. Not sure what you're shooting for there.

    they, all of them, know

One of my favorites. The four published printed versions (Crucifix, Penguin Modern Poets, Burning in Water, and The Pleasures of the Damned) all have "a snarling wife." Two recorded versions exist: one on the Terror Street/Agony Way tape and the other on a CD entitled Bukowski Reads his Poetry...

I'd say that Gretsch is the better guitar by quite a bit. But if your main axe is a Tele and you're looking for a hollow body, this semi-hollow Tele is worth a look: https://shop.fender.com/en-US/electric-guitars/telecaster/vintera-70s-telecaster-thinline/0149742328.html
