I recently re-watched this. There are a lot of moments in Born that I love. But I had forgotten that Harry Dean Stanton knew Buk. Stanton's reading was really well-done. Also liked Tom Waits' reading. Didn't care much for Bono's, though.
Hello, Cavan. "Pleasures..." is a good book for first timers. It's a hodgepodge of Bukowski's other books. Plus a little uncollected material. I'd love to see how your study goes.
Welcome, L.T.! I found Buk through poetry as well. I like "Sifting Through the Madness for the Word, the Line, the Way", "Flash of Lightning Behind the Mountain", and "What Matters Most is How Well You Walk Through the Fire."
Tomei was also looking very good in that motorcycle movie I can't think of now with Travolta, Macy, Martin whats-is-name, and some other guy I can't think of.

That DVD has been laying next to my TV for months. Finally put it in the player Sunday night. I enjoyed it. Maybe not the best movie, but decent acting all around. I thought maybe Dillon was reaching too hard to emulate Buk. But then I also thought perhaps the director tried too hard to...
