I tried some Wallaby at a Farmer's Market Stall in Australia. Not bad, quite a tender meat. When travelling I also tried Shark, which tastes like cod, and Calmari - which is nice, but there isn't much too it.
I'm keen to try horse meat.
Budweiser is alright, but it needs a partner. I usually take a bottle of Bud with a shot of Brandy, or a Scotch.
I usually sink a few bottles of beer, hit the JD and Coke when the lull comes and then finish up with a few shots for the road.
I discovered Bundaberg rum when I visited my...
You made a point about the decline of Television, yet in the last 5-10 years, despite an influx of Reality TV and Celebrity trash vehicles we are currently going through a Golden Age of Television with numerous acclaimed dramas being churned out by networks. Maybe, just maybe there is hope for...
We (England) are a second tier International Team, don't let the hype around the Premier League fool you. I'd go as far as saying England and the US are on equal terms as far as International Football goes. I'm happy with the draw.
Hey thebadges, I was over in your neck of the woods a month ago. What culturally interesting places are there to visit in Brisbane? I stayed over in Noosa, so the only thing I saw in Brisbane was the airport, but next time I fly over I'd like to see some of the city.
He was a Heavy Metal singer, he was supposed to have been OTT and theatrical.
For the Metal Community this is a sad loss. The one thing to lament, is that Dio's generation of frontmen are a dying breed.
Have you not seem Metallica live? Yeah, I take your point about 90% of their recorded output post-Burton being shoddy, but they still put on a fantastic rock show. The kind of performance that a lot of bands today could learn from.
They lost me after Kid A. I actually found Hail to the Thief and In Rainbows really hard to sit through, in just seems that the bands preoccupation with experimentation has completely tarnished their ability as songwriters.
Despite the backlash currently coming their way - Florence and the Machine are actually a tidy live act, so I would recommend checking them out.
It's a weird festival lineup though - full of nostalgia acts living from the past such as The Specials, Sly and the Family Stone and Faith No More...
Ok I'm going to have to divide these into sub-categories:
War: Tour of Duty, Generation Kill, The A-Team, Band of Brothers
Crime: Criminal Justice, The Wire,
Comedy: The Day Today, I'm Alan Partridge
Drama: Heartbeat, Six Feet Under
I'd probably go for this
Sonic Youth - The Eternal
Fol Chen - Part I: John Shade, Your Fortune's Made
Zombie Nation - Zombielicious
Lucky Elephant - Star Sign Trampoline
Wild Beasts - Two Dancers
Clutch - Strange Cousins From the West
Cue The Moon - Thought Forgotten Spoken
The...
I've come to prefer the American version. The way they have developed the characters and moved forwards from Gervais and Merchants basic premise completely trumps the original. Though this obviously comes with hindsight, and with Gervais' reputation in my opinion tarnished completely by the...
The UK problem stems also from the availability of alcohol, and the lack of limits and restrictions. Booze is very cheap, especially in Supermarkets, if you want a crate of beer, a couple of bottles of cheap wine and a small bottle of vodka then it will set you back not much more then twenty...
I think Upsetmonkey kind of has a point, for some (me included) rap / hip hop has been a gateway into poetry.
The likes of Gil Scott-Heron and The Last Poets crossed over 'back in the day', and unlike Bill I think the line between poetry and rap is almost transparent.
It changes almost every year but right now my all time Top 10 would be

5. Masculin, féminin
6. A Bridge Too Far
7. The Royal Tenenbaums
8. Dead Man's Shoes
9. Oldboy

Ambreen, have you read Touching from a Distance, the book that the screenplay is based on? Or even Paul Morley's collected essays on Joy Division. If not, then they are certainly worth checking out.
