"So fuck Doubleday Doran"

Thanks for posting.
Has the picture been taken before or after Schroeder had rented the black & decker?

Their faces would seem to indicate it was taken after that. Those are some check-cashing faces.

how blind I was not seeing the link. Thanks.

Why is Schroeder hiding his right arm? Did anything happen during the black&decker-incident we don't know of? - sorry. just joking.

Wasn't there a scene in 'Hollywood', whereSchroeder/Pinchot plans to do a photo together with Hank in front of a 'Cannon'-poster or 'Cannon'-ad? Could it be this one?

It is what it is
This photo made my day.

Thanks.

Those check-cashing crazy-laughs are infectious.

You may be right.
Notice the text on the poster in the backgrund:
There's no stopping us!

Hank here looks like an ogre, brrr.

I won't say it's a funny photo, just a highly frightening one, as if he was going to devour us all...
And I find his hands scaring as well.

I've flipped through 'Hollywood' and didn't find the scene, where they make this photo.

But still I'm more sure than ever, I've read about it somewhere!
Hank and Schroeder posing in front of a Cannon-poster, getting into the same pose and aiming at a subtitle that accues them or persiflating the original subtitle.

Anyone?

okay, sorry.
it's "accuses" and "making a persiflage out of".
or something similar.
What I'm looking for, is that passage.

This is indeed described in Hollywood, I just read it. Slightly past the halfway point. Jon Pinchot /Barbet Schroeder's plan to sabotage Cannon/Firepower by taking a picture with Hank to mock the Cannon picture for use as an anti-Cannon ad in Variety, pending delivery from Cannon of non-rubber checks to Barbet and Hank. Taken during the filming of Barfly, just before the bathtub scene was filmed.

Ah! Thanks for finding that! I knew it must be there!

Jon sat in a chair.
"Are you behind me?"
"Yes."
"Now give a big phoney smile."
I did.
[...]
"Friedman and Fishman had a photo just like that taken last week, Friedman in the chair, Fishman standing behind him, both of them smiling. The photo appeared as a full page ad in Variety. And under it were the words, Firepower will win!"
.....

(Hollywood, chapt. 31)

Shoot me if this has already been discussed but that photo appears in the recent issue of Playboy along with an appreciation of Bukowski written by Schroeder. There's also a piece from the upcoming City Lights book.

See...I DO read the articles.

I'm glad to tell you, that we won't need to shoot you, nymark, since the post by David didn't mention this particular photo.

Imagine my relief. I'll just tear up this Last Will and Testament that bequeaths my entire Bukowski collection to mjp.
