Bukowski's funeral

I originally thought was that if Buk took the time before he died to make sure what his epitaph would say maybe he and Linda Lee discussed having buddhist monks there also. I guess only she herself would know but I think it's safe to say that it was probably her idea. I don't want to dwell on this thing too much because, honestly. do we really fuckin' care? No.

As far as Buddhism goes, with my limited knowledge of it, it's just as fucked as all the other religions. I know, I know, there some wisdom in it - but that probably goes for all of them. Let's not get into a religious debate. As Bob Dylan once said " all the truths in the world add up to one big lie".

Bukowski was quite self satisfied with his earthly stance amd pursuit of the pleasure of his own company enhanced with wine, women, typewriter and poetry

I think that if we all had an opportunity to
create a religion which would work for us,
(and why the hell not?)
then that, above, is as close as I could
come to vocalizing mine.

Thanks Joan.

... also, he liked, asper Chinese Astology, being Year of the Monkey...

off topic, but both my son and I are Year of the Monkey. now I know we keep good company. ;)

as far as Buddhism is concerned, I'm not and probably never will be a religious person, and while I only have a surface knowledge of Buddhism, it is probably one of the religions I could align myself with. but not the one where I chant for a Hummer.

but like I said, I'm not a religious person.

On the wall behind the Buddha, you can read Buk's comforting words:
"what matters most is how well you walk through the fire."
That worked for me best. . .
