not bad, but take into account it was first pulblished as a PhD dissertation. Lucikly, American PhD dissertations are not as academic as the European ones.

Are there some European dissertations on Bukowski?
That'd be a hoot.

yep, there are a few. Art, Survival and So Forth, by Jules Smith, is one of them. Anyway, if you have the chance to publish your PhD, most people make it more "accessible" by removing the academic jargon.

Taking up an old thread to mention a published French dissertation that used to be called "anatomy of violence IN Bukowski's prose work". And it's actually one of the best work I've read on Bukowski so far:
