Otherwise his first published poetry was when he was 26 years old.

they were probably published circa 1945.

I've often wondered if any of Bukowski writing had been found when he was in his late teens and early twenties...perhaps none exists...or none remain.

You can read Buk's own description of one of his early stories in the poem "my old man", which originally appeared in Love is a Dog From Hell, later in the Run With the Hunted sampler...
