The whole auction threw me for a loop. Not my first rodeo, but perhaps I don't know rodeo as well as I thought I did. But regarding photography, there were more than several Buk books of photography that didn't sell, so, it's not an across the board thing to be sure.

For what it's worth, I own a few of them and I thought that I got them at a decent price over the past 2-3 years. Maybe not. It wouldn't be the first time, unfortunately.

Photography books aren't necessary that valuable (most of them), it's the actual photographs that are getting pricey. Look at The Iris Prints, that went for double the high estimate. Because there are actual prints in there. Mosque #2, Schweitzingen, Germany and Walking on Carlton Way, $840 for the pair.



Of course you can get smaller prints of both of those last two photos for a mere $150. Just saying. Again.

A lot of his listings call poems "unpublished" when they were quite published.

wait, we think heat wave is worth 10K these days? i know price's popularity has shot up in the last 7-8 years as he's been accepted into the contemporary art canon. HW is one of my very favorite books i own, but if someone came up to me offering 10K for it, i don't know that i could keep it.
