I'd rather be a book snob than a big baby. <----- oh shit! Did I really say that? Yes. Yes I did!

WTF! I can't believe I just read all of that. Now, I need a reading fee from all of you. Well the good news is everyone will get over it. That will be $10.00 a piece.

Perhaps I'm delusional but I do try to make it a habit to know a good thing when it chances by. That 1st cup of coffee in the morning is a good thing. Feeding my cat every day so he doesn't shit on my pillow is a good thing. Being agreeably silent when the girlfriend is being a bitch is a good thing. After turning the last page in this collection I do believe this Calhoun fella has delivered the goods which, imo, is a good thing.

That's good news, this good thing. No one here ever commented on his writing ability, FWIW.

Good to know. Thanks Stavrogin.

No one here ever commented on his writing ability..

Wasn't aware of that. Enjoyed the other collection I'd read but never posted feedback for it and now regret not having done so. I'm certain Retreating... will garner many a positive comment by those fortunate enough to read it.

Thanks much for that, Stavrogin. I think that like most poets, I'm up and down, but I am somewhat proud of this collection. Appreciate the kind words.

I have commented about Calhoun's work in here before. Let me remind us all about something written in a chap book entitled A Common Thread:

The bukowski.net forums were intended to be about the writer, not about writing. Not a place for poets to gather and critique and pretend to share tea while rewriting each other's work.
However the writer mentions that "many top notch writers gravitated to the site and quietly made themselves known." I think some of the frustration here stems from the adjective quietly.
