I am reading Patricia Highsmith's novel so I decided to watch this. It's been a while. Great. The merry-go-round scene at the end is classic.

In Bruges
This is excellent, a movie worth watching multiple times. Those are my favorite kinds. The director Martin McDonagh's Seven Psychopaths is great too. His most recent movie, Three Billboards has a fine cast but I'm not so sure about it. A friend, whose movie opinion I trust, didn't like it too much.

Also just watched Scott Pilgrim vs The World. It's a'ite. Fun. Well done. My 13 yr old chose it and it's amusing to see what he picks now that it's not exclusively kiddie movies or superhero movies anymore.

Woke up early & couldn't fall back asleep. Watched this at 4am. The book by Pete Dexter is excellent. I think it's loosely based on his experiences as a journalist for the now dead The Bulletin here in Philly in the 70's. Hoffman is/was a brilliant actor.

I just revisited The Passenger (1975) and Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974). Both are amazing.

Woke up at 3:12am this morn & could not fall back asleep so I watched this. We, the guys, will be watching it for the movie club/thing tomorrow I do once a month. I've probably said this before about certain movies but...I liked it a lot and it deserves multiple viewings. Bresson's directorial style is compelling, kind of realistic, kind of fake.

Weekend by Godard. I'm still not sure if this is a "good movie" but it is interesting, weird, an experiment really. But like Pickpocket & Jeanne Dielman I am compelled and can't turn away.

By coincidence the wife suggested last night we watch The Shining. We did. Forgot how excellent it really is. The kids loved it too.

I think the title is kewl. The movie itself was okay but not astounding.
It's interesting you should say that because Jarmusch took the title from a 1964 novel abt out of control teen agers running wild in England to be adapted into a movie staring Mick & Keith and be directed by Nick Ray of Rebel Without A Cause fame...and for further connections. Early on Jarmusch worked with/for Nick Ray. Jarmusch kinda befriended him at the end of his career.

Just saw Princess Mononoke in the theater with the family on vacation last week. A favorite Ghibli, second only to My Neighbor Totoro.

Yesterday night in a hotel room somewhere in East Germany. I couldn't sleep and watched In Bruges. That was a good one.
I forgot how much I loved this movie. Colin Farrell ALMOST makes up for his abhorrent performance in Ask The Dust. But the Double Moustache action taking place on his lower forehead will always pre-empt any attempt at taking him serious....

Night Train to Lisbon. When I started to watch it I was about to switch off, but then it got me hooked. A couple of great German actors in there, Martina Gedeck and Bruno Ganz.

Bruno from The American Friend & Wings of Desire. Nice. I just saw The Big Lebowski in the theater with the wife. Laughed our asses off. An all-time favorite. I've seen it a million times & haven't gotten bored of it yet.

Man, this looks really good. Amazing cast too. Charlotte Rampling, Jeremy Irons, Ganz... etc.

Saw 8th Grade & BlacKkKlansman in the theater. both very good. BlacKkKlansman may be Spike's best.

I saw Sorry To Bother You...and can happily report it's a helluva unique and interesting movie. That those can still be made these days feels like a victory in itself.

Yeah. the wife & I wanna check STBY out.

My copy of Love Streams has been sitting around for a while & I finally got to it this past weekend. Like all Cassavetes movies it is strange, intense, odd, and very well acted. My Criterion edition ahs lots of very interesting extras as well. I dig it.

Sorry To Bother You was really good.
My wife and I saw Crazy Rich Asians yesterday. Also entertaining and before 6:00 p.m. at Alpine Cinema in Bay Ridge only $6 a ticket.
