Want to buy starting my collection

So ROC's username used to be Buk on a Bike, or is that some old mix-up in the code somehow?

Also, it's too bad Aaron didn't hang around longer. It's been nearly seven years since his last post.

Has AK and bosspress relesed the new edition yet?
Also how would you know for sure the "women" auction on ebay is one of the 400 revised first editions? (Would you just go off the date on the title page 1979.)

That project was shelved. Aaron had some issues that he had to take care of and the project just kind of fizzled out. I'd be happy to take it up again, but it would have to have Aaron at the helm. He has all of the data on quantities, and it is a continuation of his work, so it would seem odd to make a 2nd volume that was not by him...

Thought id add an update on my collection so far. Haven't seen them in person yet, not home for another 3 weeks.

1. Post office wraps, near mint condition 9+ (ebay sellers description, looked like he sold a load of books in the past) Going for $400 got it for $300
2. Muntfort picture set from Bukshot. bought from mjp $150
3. Mens lib print by charles Bukowski, $20 (will look cool framed at home)
4. Now, a new years greeting from black sparrow press 1992, signed hardcover lettered ''J'' with white cover.
5. Those marvellous lunches, a new years greeting from BSP 1993, signed hardcover lettered "S" with white cover. They were up for $333 each managed to get them as a pair for $539

My budget of $500 got slightly abused but what the hell I love every piece. :D

..and welcome to the madness. Don't let this take over your life. It is hard to keep a library if you live in a refrigerator carton.

Thanks mjp. That file is absolutley amazing. Now I know why his neighbors complained all the time about his typing. This list of work is so much more thorough then the list in the front of books showing what other books you could also buy.

Now I can see that he was busy all the time. It doesn't look like he ever suffered from doldrums in his writing.

He did suffer from doldrums at times and he wrote about them on occasion. But he did manage to work through them. If you look at his poetry from the 60s to the 90s, there are some ups and downs, but The Last Night of the Earth Poems is as strong as many earlier poetry collections. Same with the novels, with the exception of Pulp, which I still find to be a good read. Collectively, Hollywood and Ham on Rye are strong - close to being as strong as the 70s trio. The only genre in which I think he did decline somewhat would be the short story. But that's only because his early works, Confessions, Assholes, Charity Ward, etc. are so damn strong - and real - that his true avenue of experimentation, the 70s-90s short stories, fell a bit short of his previously-set high bar.

My take, for what it's worth.

I think you should just buy all the books that are in print. I actually like the Ecco versions of the books. I've repurchased some Black Sparrow versions, and I find them stiffer, not as nice in the hand as the new versions. That's my take.
