Two poems from Shattersheet

chronic

old and in the way
I was digging through a junk drawer yesterday and came across a couple of issues of a L.A. mag called Shattersheet. I believe that both of these poems are uncollected.

This one is from Issue 13, October '86.

and another, this from Issue 15, December '86:

The second poem appears in The Flash of Lightning Behind the Mountain, p. 78, as "nothing's free", with some variations, edits, additions, etc. I prefer what you posted from 1986. Leaner, gets the point across.

It was also rewritten at least a couple other times - a manuscript of a different version was recently on eBay.

That's it.

But I'm 99% sure I have a copy of another manuscript of the same poem, probably with slight differences.
