Back to the shoe photo above, this one was taken by Gypsy Lou Webb in New Orleans in 1963:

Regarding the photo of Bukowski on a bench, I don't know for sure where and when it was taken.

It appears on the cover of "All's Normal Here - a Charles Bukowski Primer" from Ruddy Duck Press, where it is referred to as "Bukowski on Bench" but the photographer is stated as 'unknown ' and the credit reads 'Special thanks to Ann Menebroker'. It also appears in Joan Jobe Smith's recent book "Charles Bukowski - Epic Glottis: His Art & His Women (& me)" where is is credited as "Charles Bukowski on Bench, New Orleans 1963 by Gypsy Lou Webb, courtesy of Ann Menebroker".

Edit: I see that its also on the cover of 'Das ist Alles - Charles Bukowski recollected', edited by Joan Jobe Smith, of which I don't have a copy to check.

In Joan Jobe Smith's Das ist Alles (I have a second printing from February, 1996) the cover photo is also reproduced on p. 8 with the following: "Charles Bukowski, ca. 1962, New Orleans. Photographer possibly Jon Webb or Gypsy Lou Webb. Photo courtesy of Ann Menebroker."

So I guess one of the Webbs took the picture and Buk sent it to Menebroker.
Makes sense to me.

Is this Gerard Malanga?
That photo is of Malanga for sure. The first picture of Buk I believe is from October 1972. A few were taken with Linda King and John Martin at the same time. If I'm not mistaken. I featured some of the photos in an issue of my Beat Scene magazine. John Martin looks uncomfortable, nobody is smiling much.

It's a nice one.
He looks pretty tame in it - even for a late photo - but I like it. Classic style.

And in the end...
I believe this is from a book of photographs by Christian Coigny called 'Sittings'. It may have been posted somewhere on the forum before, or others from the same series.

This is weird, but I feel uncomfortable looking at this photo. Is it because he looks uncomfortable?? It's very formal, I prefer the more attractive, male, don't give a fuck photos. He looks as though someone has just flung him in the bath, scrubbed him, dressed him and forced him to pose nicely, there's a kind of bemused, vulnerable, intrusive quality to it, clearly he is older in it and perhaps unwell?, but it just doesn't capture the true spirit of him, what do you think Hank Solo?

Ponder, that's a Montfort-shot. I've seen this (or a similar one) in his archive.
Of course his version didn't have that fancy blue on it.

It was used for Black Sparrow's, "Remembering Hank On His 80th Birthday", which included the poem, Magical Mystery Tour". The blue photo has been reversed.

I just retrieved some older stuff in the basement including the obituary in infamous German "Bild Zeitung" .
Does anyone know where this lovely picture (by Montfort) is from?

Yeah, I own the issue of Bild Zeitung, but did the picture appear in any photobook or another official publication first?

I just received a photo as a give-away and noticed a lettering with Linda Lee's name on the backside.
Does anyone know if this is her real signature? Any informations about the origin of these kind of pictures?

That looks like it's from a group of small black and white photos she sent to Kevin Ring (Beat Scene). I have one here, it's in a little frame so I can't see the back, but I recall her name being written on it. For photo credit, I assumed. Seems he's wearing the same shirt, but then all his shirts looked like that.
