What are you listening to? The world really needs to know. #5

That taxi scene is uncomfortable at best. It's from Eat the Document, which was D.A. Pennebaker's '66 companion piece to Don't Look Back, from the '65 UK tour. I don't believe it's ever been officially released.

It hasn't, but you can read the transcript of it on the Beatles Bible Website here, the second reel (haven't seen that) apparently has Dylan feeling sick and wanting back to the hotel, it's quite funny to read actually, guess they're just mere mortals like us.

PS Have you ever seen the Documentary John Lennon's Jukebox (some kind of portable thing) made by the South Bank Show in 2004, bits of it are on YouTube, but I have tried Netflix and it isn't there, has anyone seen it at all?

I've seen it, though I don't remember where/when. It must available in full somewhere, I know I didn't watch it on YouTube.

It's interesting to someone who likes old things and hardware. And a little peek inside Lennon's world.

Later: I probably saw it here.

Off to work in a bit and will still be there for the bells at midnight so just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year when it arrives.:)
Love these, good dance tunes. The Heavy's one has been pretty ubiquitous these past few years, but that hasn't spoiled it. Cheers everyone!x

I know everyone hates Bono but I just love this song.
I could live 1,000 more lives without U2 being part of it, but I do agree that this is an extremely well-crafted and well-performed song in every version I've heard. I may not have the pure dislike of Bono that others have, but what boils my ass is him standing up there with a guitar that's probably not in tune, is certainly not audible in the mix, and only serves to further the image that this is a multi-talented individual. He's a singer-songwriter; a decent one. Let's just leave it at that and check the wet panties at the door.

Feeling sluggish after Christmas and New Year maybe? Thinking of having the Ace of Spades as my alarm call for a bit.
Really love the originals, but it's enjoyable to watch Grohl enjoying himself.

Seems crazy that Pyjamarama was kept off their 1973 For Your Pleasure album, it's one of their best for me. Really love Siouxsie and the Banshees cover of Sea Breezes though - prefer it to the original, from Roxy Music - the 1972 album.

Hey Ponder, I hear samples from Siouxsie's cover of Sea Breezes in there, how the heck, did you get this? - amazing!, don't know this band but they sound a bit like the Human League, nice.

Bit cheeky putting these two together, though I think Patti Smith got over her antipathy towards Debbie, what did she want her do - go around with a paper bag over her head? that she was drop dead gorgeous didn't make her any less passionate about her music. Anyway love them both and the Seventies rock and roll/punk scene was big enough for both of them - and them some.

Here's something I discovered a while back. Ginsberg words, McCartney & Philip Glass music. Pretty cool little garage-y type song.
