Bukowski readings.

"The law is wrong; I am right"
Yes, 1972 seems to be the year alright. No way to get around the letter.
As for Linda King, it's my impression that they were together for about five years, on and off, from 1970 to 1975. At the moment I can't remember where I read it...

mjp are you adding known readings to the timeline?

I was intrigued by poster/broadside (repro) that i saw on ebay for a reading at the Telegraph Hill Gym in San Francisco that used the same b/w artwork as the earlier 72 SF reading (City Lights).

Anyway, the poster states
City Lights Poets Theater
Bukowski reads his Poetry
Saturday May 31 8pm
Telegraph Hill Gym
555 Chestnut (nr Mason)

Saturday May 31 is either 75 or 69. I think 75. Also, according to the Finch Catalogue [lot #344] its going to be 1975.

Good catch, I would have never thought to check for another date using the same poster. Added it to the timeline.

somebody gave it in this thread before (https://bukowskiforum.com/showthread.php?p=16582#post16582)
The poster: Ain't sure, but maybe it was the very known one, that also was used for the famous SF-reading of 1972. This one (that's also reproduced on the CD-cover of 'poems and insults' was - at least used for ONE other reading, as I know from a photograph...

it's the same picture, announcing a reading for
"Saturday, May 31 / 8pm at City Lights Bookstore".
According to this information, it can only be the year of 1969 (which would be another big surprise - but not totally impossible) or 1975.
it's here:

I just saw the poster recently and checked the timeline.

Kudos back to you Roni. My mind switches off when I read long posts ;)

... like mine does, when I write them :-))

Thanks hanksolo for bringing the date back into discussion. What counts is, it's in the timeline now. (and sorry for being such a smartass from time to time.)

I remember your picture Roni. Not sure why I didn't add the date back then. Maybe because I couldn't make out the Telegraph Hill Gym text, which verifies that it was a separate reading.

Anyway, as you said, it's in there now.

A lecturer of mine saw Bukowski read in San Fransisco in the 70s. She said he had the fridge up on the stage and was drinking. She's a big Diane Wakoski fan, has done a lot of work on her, has some beautiful books.
